About Me

Graham Harris

I am a photographer based in Toowoomba, Australia. In 2004 I joined the Toowoomba Photographic Society.  The club has enabled me to mix with many others with a passion for photography.  I have found our monthly competitions and discussions with fellow photographers inspirational in developing my photographic skills.

In 2007 I entered my first National competition - here I gained my first photographic acceptance with the image “Radiant”.  I got the competitive bug then and entered further National competitions, and my first International in January 2009 where the slide “Radiant” once more received an acceptance.

Initially, I focused on National competitions but soon started focusing on international competitions. Entering these competitions has been challenging but enjoyable. The greatest benefit has been the receipt of the catalogues produced by the competitions entered where you can see the best images from the competition, and at times are fortunate enough to have one of yours published as well.

Not long after receiving my first acceptance I became aware of the Australian Photographic Society Honours scheme. Photographic Honours are achieved through the receipt of sufficient acceptances across a significant number of titles in competitions that have been accredited with particular photographic organisations.  Currently I have the followingPhotographic Honours:

* FAPS (APS Fellowship - Australian Photographic Society)

* EFIAP (Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique)

* PPSA (Photographic Society of America)

* GPU-CR2 (Global Photographic Union)

I primarily target open colour, open monochrome, nature and travel photography categories in the competitions I enter.

I believe it is important to give back to photography.  I do this as a Photographic Society of Queensland Accredited judge and as a Photographic Society of America Star Rating Director (for Monochrome Projected Image Division).
